IdeaScan ("we", "our", "us") is a research tool that helps founders and entrepreneurs discover validated startup ideas from real user pain points. We are operated by the IdeaScan team and our service is available at ideascans.com.

We collect the following information when you use IdeaScan:

• Account information: your first name, last name, username, email address, and encrypted password when you create an account.
• Billing information: payment is handled by Paystack. We store your subscription status and plan, but never your card details.
• Usage data: the niches and topics you search, the platforms you select, and the reports generated under your account.
• Technical data: session cookies used to keep you logged in. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

We do not collect any information beyond what is necessary to provide the service.

• To create and manage your account.
• To generate and save your research reports.
• To process subscription payments via Paystack.
• To send transactional emails (email verification, password reset). We do not send marketing emails unless you explicitly opt in.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the service.

Your data is stored in Supabase, a cloud database platform with SOC 2 compliance. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.

We use the following third-party services to operate IdeaScan:

• Supabase — database and user storage.
• Paystack — payment processing. Subject to Paystack's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — transactional email delivery.
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure.

We use a single session cookie (ideascan_session) to keep you logged in. This cookie contains only your email address and is strictly necessary for the service to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies.

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Export your reports and data.

IdeaScan is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
